Amazon Unveils Big Changes to Its Legendary Prime Day Sale

This year, Amazon's popular Prime Day event will be extended to double its typical duration.

The yearly sales event — set to mark its tenth year in 2025 — will extend from two to four days.

This information came to light via a communication from the retailer to independent vendors, which account for over fifty percent of Amazon’s revenue.

New additions expected for this year’s event include Prime-Exclusive Best Deals and Prime-Exclusive Lightning Deals, offering products with savings of up to 40 percent off.

Although Amazon hasn't officially announced the exact dates, Prime Day usually occurs in both July and October.

Walmart held a comparable four-day Walmart Deals event in the previous year, while Target 'S Circle Week extended over seven days.

"Over 200 million products were sold by independent vendors such as yourself during Prime Day 2024, making it our biggest shopping event ever for Prime members," stated Amazon. wrote in the message.

In 2025, we realized that two days were not sufficient. This year, we’re thrilled to present a lengthened 4-day event, providing additional shopping time for our customers to explore and benefit from millions of deals.

Retail experts suggest that this step might increase Amazon's profitability during times of economic instability.

'Senior equity analyst Arun Sundram stated that with customers looking for more bargains due to worries about tariffs and inflation, extending the duration of the event might lead to increased participation.' FOX Business .

Neil Saunders, who leads the retail division at GlobalData as its managing director, stated that the extension "is essentially a reaction to customer preferences and market competition."

Regarding consumers, buyers are highly attuned to prices and react positively to discounts and promotions. He added that whenAmazon holds suchevents, there’s an increase in both website traffic and sales.

Saunders pointed out that another aspect of this expansion is its potential to boost sales for the e-commerce site.

He mentioned that nearly all other retailers run promotions during Prime Day, with many extending for about a week or more.

In July 2015, Amazon introduced Prime Day to mark the firm's 20th year in business.

It turned into one of Amazon's biggest attractions, starting with its October Prime Day event in 2017.

In October 2022, the firm introduced a second two-day Prime Day event, currently accessible in more than 20 nations.

Last year, during Prime Day, sales brought in $14.2 billion in revenue, marking an 11.8 percent growth from what was recorded in 2023.

Following its success, Amazon launched the Big Spring Sale , which is currently ongoing until March 31.

This spring event is accessible to every shopper, unlike Prime Day, which is exclusive to Amazon Prime members.

Last year, Amazon faced criticism following its announcement to display ads within its Prime Video content.

The reported increase in advertisements over the past year apparently annoyed customers, who claimed this was ' unbearable .'

This alteration did not prevent Amazon from generating $638 billion in net sales for 2024, marking an 11 percent rise compared to the previous year’s figure.

Earlier this year, Amazon faced criticism following its announcement that it would discontinue its Test Before You Purchase Service .

Analysts currently forecast that the firm will see robust revenues in 2025; however, they anticipate this growth will be at a more gradual pace compared to what was observed in 2024.
