If you've ever misplaced a suitcase at an airport, you may believe that you're guaranteed to be reunited with your luggage eventually.
However, that's not really true.
Should luggage remain unclaimed for several months and the airport unable to contact the owner, it might then be purchased by another individual.
What could be inside then?
TikTok creator Carmie Sellitto ( @touchdalight He has shared his experience after purchasing someone’s misplaced baggage. Heathrow Airport for £129.99.
In a TikTok video Carmie clarified, "Every piece of luggage at Heathrow is considered abandoned property. Supposedly, the airport makes every effort to locate the owners for several months."
Purchasing misplaced baggage is always a deal.
Even though certain fortunate purchasers may stumble upon pricey luxury goods, many others could be left with merely soiled clothing and inexpensive trinkets valued significantly below what they spent on the purchase.


Carmie records himself unzipping the suitcase revealing a briefcase and multiple pairs of shoes on top.
The TikToker can't uncover what's inside the enigmatic case due to its locked state.
When it comes to footwear, Carmie finds out he's quite fortunate; one pair of shoes is from Gucci (even though they're dirty), and another pair are by Alexander McQueen.
Next, Carmie grabs a T-shirt and records himself sniffing it, but remarks that the odor is so awful he nearly vomited.
He then discovers a Cartier shopping bag inside the suitcase with a product box inside. As he opens the box, Carmie says he's starting to 'freak out' as he knows 'how expensive Cartier stuff can be'.
When he opens the box, however, he feels let down upon discovering that it’s completely empty. Inside the package, though, the TikToker finds a receipt indicating that the item cost €2,400/£2,007.
Carmie also discovers undergarments and socks within the abandoned suitcase, items he wishes not to handle.
Further inside the suitcase, Carmie discovers a Prada shopping bag with a brand new handbag inside but reveals he can't tell if the purchase is 'real or fake'.


In the end, the TikToker discovers an old Louis Vuitton bag containing another purse. Upon inspecting the contents of the smaller purse, he comes across the young woman’s identification and chooses to reunite her with her lost belongings.
He clarifies: "I subsequently placed all items back into the suitcase as they were" before setting out on a journey to return the luggage.
TikTok viewers flocked to the comment section to express their opinions about Carmie's acquisition of misplaced baggage.
Spencer Elmer remarked: "Wow, that's crazy! You struck gold!"
A previous commenter mentioned: "While working at an airport, I found that passengers were informed about their misplaced baggage and could choose to retrieve it. Perhaps she simply wasn’t interested in getting it back."
A single user resisted the urge to make a personal purchase. 'Alycat_OO' commented, "The fear of bedbugs would prevent me from doing this."
At the same time, Pauline was concerned that her missing bag might have been purchased by another person. She commented, "I'm wondering if my baggage, which was lost by Air France and never located, has been acquired by someone."
